چکیده

In the present study the effect of rare earth element Praseodymium (Pr) on flavonoids production and its biosynthesis key enzymes including Peroxidase (POD; EC 1.11.1.7), Polyphenol oxidase (PPO; EC 1.10.3.1) and Phenylanlanine ammonialyase (PAL; EC 4.3.1.5) in hairy roots of Scutellaria viscidula was investigated. After 7 days of suspension culture, activity of POD, PPO and PAL and total flavonoid production showed the same response tendency, which was ascending first and then descending with the Pr elicitor increasing, and the Pr(NO3)3 concentration reaching the knee point was 15, 25, 25, 25, 25, ordinarily. Subsequently mechanism of flavonoids accumulation by Pr elicitation at the biochemical level is very significant for application of rare earth element to large scale production of plant nature drugs.

Molecular cloning and expression profiling of a chalcone synthase gene from hairy root cultures of Scutellaria viscidula Bunge

A cDNA encoding chalcone synthase (CHS), the key enzyme in flavonoid biosynthesis, was isolated from hairy root cultures of Scutellaria viscidula Bunge by rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE). The full-length cDNA of S. viscidula CHS, designated as Svchs (GenBank accession no. EU386767), was 1649 bp with a 1170 bp open reading frame (ORF) that corresponded to a deduced protein of 390 amino a...

Effects of Silicon and AgNO3 Elicitors on Biochemical Traits and Antioxidant Enzymes Activity of Henbane (Hyoscyamus reticulatus L.) Hairy Roots

Lattice henbane (Hyoscyamus reticulatus L.) is an herbaceous, biennial plant belonging to Solanaceae family. H. reticulatus hairy roots were established from two-week-old leaves infected by A7 strain of Agrobacterium rhizogenes on solid Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium. In this study, abiotic elicitors including; Sodium silicate (Na2SiO3) with different concentrations (0, 1, 5 and 7 mM) and silv...
